Skipton is said to have the most pubs per capita in the country, and was once called "Little Ibiza" by the Manchester Evening News. Perfect place to fall in love on a pub crawl. Here's our favourites, in this order (all of which featured on the day we met);(1) The Woolly Sheep - All the Timmy Taylors. Sun trap beer garden. Say no more.(2) The Castle - great outside area in the shadow of the Castle(3) The Narrow Boat - great beer and food(4) Beer Engine - one for the beer goblins(5) Boat House Bar - for a drink in the sun by the Canal(6) Sound Bar - for a bit of Indie and Rock music(7) Alexander's - if you don't like beer and want a classier vibe Later night options include Sound Bar for live music, Speakeasy / Nightshade / Bar 25 for a cocktail or two, and Flutes &amp; Fizz, Black Horse, or Kooky for a boogie Other great pubs in the area include The New Inn, Cononley (our local), The Craven Arms, Appletreewick, The Fleece Inn, Addingham, and The Cavendish, Embsay, and of course The Devonshire Arms, Bolton Abbey

Our wedding is set in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales National Park. There are infinite walks.... But here are a couple of our favourites (with link to AllTrails map) and associated detail; Without a Car;<a href="https://www.alltrails.com/en-gb/trail/england/north-yorkshire/skipton-castle-woods-trail?u=m&amp;sh=0nljh5" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Skipton Castle Woods Trail.</a> Easy. 1hr. 3km. Perfect if you do't have a car. Set off from the heart of Skipton, past the Castle and into the woods. Pair this with a pint in the Castle Inn, the famous meeting point of L&amp;C. The Three Peaks(1) <a href="https://www.alltrails.com/en-gb/trail/england/north-yorkshire/pen-y-ghent-and-hull-pot-circular?u=m&amp;sh=0nljh5" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Pennyghent</a> Hard. 10.5km. 3-4hrs. Smallest of the 3Yorkshire peaks. Hop on a train from Skipton to Horton-in-Ribblesdale for this Circular(2) <a href="https://www.alltrails.com/en-gb/trail/england/north-yorkshire/whernside-and-ribblehead-circular?u=m&amp;sh=0nljh5" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Whernside</a> Hard. 12km 4hrs. Set off from Ribblehead and wonder under the famous Ribblehead Viaduct and then up the spine of Whernside(3) <a href="https://www.alltrails.com/en-gb/trail/england/lancashire/ribblehead-station-to-ingleborough?u=m&amp;sh=0nljh5" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Ingleborough</a> Hard. 13.5km. 4hrs. There and back of Ingleborough.(4) <a href="https://www.alltrails.com/en-gb/trail/england/north-yorkshire/yorkshire-three-peaks-circular?u=m&amp;sh=0nljh5" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">All three (!)</a> - A full day affair. 30km walk up 2000m+ elevation. <a href="https://www.alltrails.com/en-gb/explore?b_br_lat=54.00239891609252&amp;b_br_lng=-2.120443937629176&amp;b_tl_lat=54.141736467061804&amp;b_tl_lng=-2.443336062370747" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Settle </a>- Get the train up to Settle (the journey's worth it in and of itself). You can go on various walks from Settle, including up to Stainforth Waterfall. Or, just enjoy a simple stroll around the Town With Car;<a href="https://www.alltrails.com/en-gb/trail/england/north-yorkshire/janet-s-foss-gordale-scar-and-malham-cove?u=m&amp;sh=0nljh5" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Malham Cove Circular</a> Medium. 2.5-3hrs. 8km. A must do, but could be busy on a bank hol. Fun Fact: Harry Potter scenes were filmed at the top of the Cove.<a href="https://www.alltrails.com/en-gb/trail/england/west-yorkshire/bolton-abbey-to-barden-tower?u=m&amp;sh=0nljh5" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">The Strid, Bolton Abbey</a> Medium. 1.5-2hrs. 7km. Set off practically from the venue along the River Wharfe on a lovely trail, past the Abbey. Finish up at the Cavendish Pavilion, or with a Picnic by the river. Careful you'll be charged £15 for the privalege of parking your car.<a href="https://www.alltrails.com/en-gb/trail/england/north-yorkshire/embsay-crag" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Embsay Crag</a> Medium. 1-1.5hrs. 3.5km. 10 mins drive from Skipton / Bolton Abbey. Stunning views over Skipton and even Cononley on a clear day. Can extend (up Cracoe Fell) or reduce (just round the resevoir) as required<a href="https://www.alltrails.com/en-gb/trail/england/west-yorkshire/bronte-waterfalls-circular?u=m&amp;sh=0nljh5" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Bronte Waterfalls</a> Medium. 1.5-2hrs. 6km. Longer drive from Skipton, but one of our favourite jaunts. Recommended if you're into the Bronte's. Pair this with a trip to the quaint village of Haworth (and a pint at The Fleece)<a href="https://www.alltrails.com/en-gb/trail/england/north-yorkshire/grassington-to-hedben-circular?u=m&amp;sh=0nljh5" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Grassington to Hebden Circular</a> Medium. 2hrs. 7.6km. Start with a stroll through the stunning village of Grassington (where Chris played his rugby as a junior) and thereafter meander through quintessential Dales scenery, and back along the River Wharfe.

Hiking

Golf There's a driving range (White Hills) nr Skipton, and various courses nearby (Recommend Skipton or Bracken Ghyll for proximity) Padel If you're on with the hype and keen to expend some energy then book a Padel Court (through Playtomic or directly through Skipton Tennis Centre) Cycling We're told there's lots of top quality cycling to be done in the dales. Tour de Yorkshire routes <a href="https://www.ridetheroutes.co.uk/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">here</a> <a href="https://www.settlefalconry.co.uk/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Falconry</a> something a bit different at Settle Falconry

Sport

Skipton is a great place to spend a day, thought here are plenty more charming Yorkshire towns and villages for a day trip;If you've a car then we'd recommend the metropolises of Grassington or Settle, or smaller quaint villages of Gargrave, Malham, Kettlewell or Burnsall. Outside of the National Park, Haworth is definitely worth a visit, or Ilkley / Harrogate for larger towns If you haven't got a car you can explore via the Skipton - Settle - Carlisle railway. Closer places worth visiting include Gargrave and Settle, or slightly further afield, Dent. You could also take the Leeds train to visit the UNESCO World Heritage village of Saltaire.

Canal Boat Trip (organised or self drive - see pennine cruisers) - having done this recently for Chris's birthday we can highly recommend Skipton Castle Tour the 900 year old Medieval Castle <a href="https://www.kelbrook.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Clay Pigeon Shooting</a> at former Olympian's shooting range in Kelbrook Burnsall River - An old favourite day for Chris. Spend a day by the river in Burnsall, enjoy the water, have a bbq, play some french cricket, have an ice cream Skipton Market - worth a wander up and down, but unless you're into high vis jackets or dog food, don't expect to find anything you actually want to buy
